About
I began tutoring during lockdown while helping my own children with maths, and gradually found that working one-to-one with students suited me well, particularly helping those who needed support rebuilding confidence in maths.
I now tutor students from Key Stages 2–4, both in Cambridge and online. Much of my tutoring focuses on students who may need support catching up, rebuilding confidence, or preparing for the transition from primary to secondary school.
My approach is calm, supportive and tailored to the individual student. I encourage students to ask questions freely and to say when something does not make sense — often it simply means we need to find a better way to explain a concept. My aim is not only to improve understanding, but also to help students feel more confident and comfortable with maths over time.
Before moving into tutoring, I spent over 15 years working in scientific research and diagnostics, including research work at the University of Cambridge. My background in science and problem-solving strongly influences the way I teach: building clear foundations, thinking logically, and helping students understand the “why” behind a method rather than relying purely on memorisation.
